ABOUT THE ARTIST

Artist – Textile Artist

K, they/them, is originally from Chicago and currently resides in Jo Daviess county, Illinois. They studied art therapy at Alverno College and interned at both the Milwaukee Gay Arts Center and The Alliance School, an alternative high school for LGBTQIA+ kids who’d been bullied out of their regular schools. Raised Catholic and having converting to Wicca for a few years, K now blends the symbolism, ritual, and mysticism of these traditions into practice and artwork. Now they facilitate both educational and artistic workshops in the area in addition to showing their visual art.

K has always integrated spiritual and therapeutic themes in their artwork. Their art journey has moved from creating artwork for themself to sharing with others, especially those healing from spiritual abuse and trauma. Utilizing mixed media based on textiles, K’s artwork weaves together themes of holiness, nature, and Catholic imagery separated from the patriarchal institution of Church hierarchy.
